Anti-Semitism

More than a Marginal Phenomenon: Antisemitism in Germany

Since the Hamas terrorist attack on Oc-tober 7, 2023, antisemitism in Germany has mani-fested itself particularly loudly and openly once again. However, antisemitic interpretations and attacks had not disappeared before that either. And even though antisemitism is often located at the political margins and primarily perceived as a far-right, left-wing, or Islamic phenomenon, it is a problem affecting the society as a whole.
In her lecture, Dr. Elke Rajal explores the question of what antisemitism means and in which forms it currently manifests itself in Germany. A particular focus lies on antisemitic patterns of interpretation in times of crisis as well as on the role of conspiracy narratives in explaining complex social developments.
